Summer time to me is the time to start to really prepare yourself physically as well as mentally! Why, because this is the time when we all tend to let go and enjoy the sun forgetting that in the next couple of months many head off to college or start your high school sport and with that comes conditioning for sports as well as the Freshman 15+! So are you prepared???
Lets get past the obvious, YOU NEED to wear sunblock all day every day!!!! The sun will not only burn you but will help to dehydrate you if not properly protected.
Now training, no matter what sport you or your child will be trying out for this coming fall pre season, you and your child need to BUILD BASE! This means that you must prepare your body for all teh pre season sprints and conditioning you will encounter as the season gets started.
Building a good base involves starting off slowly with a plan that allows your body to build a base by gradually increasing the intensity each week. If you decide to do nothing over the next couple of months then start the pre season training you can run the risk of overtraining which may result in injury or fatigue thru the season.
